La ministra de Sanidad en funciones, María Luisa Carcedo, ha mantenido este martes un encuentro con el Consejo de la Juventud de España y entidades de VIH y Sida para coordinar la entrega de 100.000 kits con preservativos que serán distribuidos de forma gratuita durante la celebración de conciertos y festivales de música a lo largo de los próximos meses, así como otras actividades culturales en las que habitualmente participa la población joven.
Los 100.000 kits están compuestos por preservativo y lubricante y serán distribuidos por las diferentes entidades miembro del Consejo de la Juventud de España así como entidades de VIH y Sida. Algunos kits ya han comenzado a distribuirse en conciertos como el Festival Intercultural en el Sardinero, que se celebró en Santander, o el Rototom Sunsphash, que se celebra hasta el próximo jueves, 22 de agosto, en Benicassim.
Más de una decena de conciertos y festivales
En total, las entidades participantes podrán distribuir preservativos en más de una decena de conciertos y festivales que se celebran entre agosto y finales de septiembre en diferentes puntos de la geografía española, como Asturias, Palma de Mallorca, Barcelona, Sevilla o Navarra.
Esta acción se realiza en el marco de la campaña #SiemprePreservativo de prevención de VIH e Infecciones de Transmisión Sexual
“El Ministerio continúa así con el desarrollo de una medida histórica de salud pública como es la donación de preservativos a las entidades para su distribución de forma gratuita”, ha señalado la ministra, María Luisa Carcedo. El pasado julio, se realizó una primera donación de 60.000 kits con preservativo para el reparto durante la celebración del Orgullo LGTBI en Madrid. Desde 2012 no se realizaba en el Ministerio una iniciativa de este tipo.
“El uso del preservativo es un asunto fundamental de salud pública”, ha insistido Carcedo. “Es el medio más eficaz para prevenir la infección por VIH y de Infecciones de Transmisión Sexual (ITS). Por ello, desde el ministerio recomendamos vivamente a toda la población, pero muy especialmente a los jóvenes, que lleven siempre encima el preservativo y lo usen”.
Repunte de infecciones por gonorrea, sífilis y clamidia
En los últimos años se ha registrado un repunte de ITS en España. En particular, las tasas de infección por gonorrea registran un incremento continuado desde 2010. La mayor subida se ha producido entre 2013 y 2017 con un incremento medio de un 26% anual, según los últimos datos de Vigilancia Epidemiológica.
En total en España se registraron 23.942 casos notificados de infección gonocócica, sífilis, clamidia e linfogranuloma venéreo en 2017. La tasa más elevada de infección por gonorrea (78%) se ha registrado entre la población joven, que tiene entre 20 y 24 años.
